So I have had this laptop for over a week and I must say I am impressed. One of favorite features has to be the keyboard, nice big smooth separated buttons it really makes typing on a laptop much easier. The webcam is stellar and takes good pics. I love the big 17in screen very clear picture great for watching movies on your laptop. The blu-ray player worked fine with out requiring any updates, The sound with dolby advanced audio with Harman/Kardon speakers is some of the best compared to any laptop I have ever previously owned. This laptop also features harddrive protection that protects your laptops harddrive if your laptop is bumped or moved. I appreciate some of the Toshiba pre-installed software, especially the eco utility. The computers performances seems excellent with very little lag time. I am really pleased overall. My only complaint might be that my battery life only seems to be about 2 hrs fully charged without the eco utility on.

The item was double packed, But the inside carton had large tear on it from a Knife or something, the laptop however was sealed and did not have any signs of being opened or used !!what sets this laptop apart is that it has an IPS screen with wonderful contrast and deep blacks, and of course wide view angles, the colors are little short only if compared to a vaio Z or a mac prothe 9 cell battery gives 10 hours of light internet browsing or 6 hours of video watching.the fan is silent most of the timeI'm happy with my purchase so far !!

I've still got an old Dell Inspiron 8200 that I have been happy with for many years. But, it's been feeling slow and it really can't keep up with some of the new software as well as having USB 1.0 ports that are painfully slow compared to USB 2.0. So I wanted to get a new machine. My main requirement was that the screen needed be be a high resolution one. That limits choices. I found a great deal on the HP. So I took the plunge. The HP arrived on schedule and I started to use it right away. Man this machine felt fast. The screen was great. The speed was great. Sound was good. No matter what they want you to believe, there is no way tiny laptop speakers will sound anything better than good. They will not replace anyone's dedicated home stereo, unless it is really, really bad. I was really happy with the computer at first.I was a happy camper until I started doing some typing. I noticed that when I did a remote desktop connection to another computer the cursor would unexpectedly jump around. This was annoying. I thought that maybe I had a wireless router issue and tried reconnecting. The problem kept recurring. Then I noticed that the problem also occurred when I was using other software. I then paid a closer attention and figured out the problem. The touch pad on the computer is not centered with the keyboard. It is offset to the right about 1/4". I have no idea why they did that. But that 1/4" offset means that when I type my right hand kept hitting the touch pad and…

First, Apple's service is terrific! The computer is incredibly fast, and there seems to be a big difference between the new 7200 RPM hard drive models versus the slower hard drive model that they had before the refresh came out. I won't go into lengthy detail on this laptop, as the other reviews on the 15 inch would be quite similar. Just remember there is no SD card slot, and instead you have to purchase an inexpensive ExpressCard adapter, which allows you to have quite a bit of flexibility on what you want to plug in there. Now here's the thing: I've returned this laptop two times over a dead area on the lower right of the space bar key. Great support, and Apple had no problem exchanging the first laptop and refunding the amount on the second laptop. Note that the problem I experienced with the space bar key occurred on the two laptops I had, and I was also able to replicate the issue on the models in the Apple Store and in the Best Buy Store. This is only unique to the 17 inch model, and the space bar works perfectly fine on the 13 or 15 inch models. This is strange to me since they're supposed to all have the same keyboard. If you're a typist that pecks, then this won't bother you. But if you are a fast typer, and one who doesn't pound down on the keys, this probably will affect you. Here's the problem: The first morning I started typing an e-mail, and got something like this, " HelloAnn, how areyou doing?" When I pressed the space bar key, the computer didn't actually…

So, I bought this machine basically to replace an aging desktop and to have a laptop for work purposes, since the laptop that my company provided me with was a total P.O.S. Before I start this review let me say that I spent nearly a month researching what I wanted; comparing processors (AMD vs. Intel), graphics capabilities, configurations, company reputation, price, etc...INTERNALS - The internal hardware in this machine is absolutely top-notch. The Sandy Bridge CPU is amazing, the nVidia GT540 graphics are excellent, the DDR3 RAM and 7200 hard drive are top of the line. Everything "under the hood" is the best I've seen at this price. The fact that it only comes with 4GB of RAM is okay. Most people won't use more than this for 90% of their activities, though this motherboard is capable of accepting 16GB, which is more than enough. I have already run Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Dreamweaver with no problem. Additionally, have played games including Starcraft, Company of Heroes, and Dragon Age on full graphics settings with no problem.EXTERNALS - The externals on this machine are, for the most part, excellent quality as well. The case is solid, hinge is nice and tight, brushed-metal outer shell looks great. The ports and jacks seem very solid (though I haven't put a ton of stress on them), and the screen is very sharp. The fact that this machine has a USB 3.0 port is very nice. One (very minor) observation I had is that all of the ports and jacks are on the left…

Mac user here buying a PC for work. I find this computer is a little heavy in weight but otherwise it is really a pretty machine and quite fast. The screen is clear and bright and I love the back lit keyboard. It boots quickly and that is a plus in a PC. I am quite pleased with this new purchase so far.

For those seeking a super-size PC with desktop-like performance, plus Toshiba quality, style and value, the Satellite L675 laptop is a great choice. Whether you’re working, studying, creating multimedia, or just up for widescreen high-def entertainment, the 17.3 diagonal TruBrite HD display on this notebook makes it better. And for those thinking about replacing their desktop computer, this PC offers the newest multi-core processors from Intel and AMD, a DVD player, along with all the memory and storage they’ll need to tackle whatever the day may bring. Draped in style, it comes with our acclaimed Fusion Finish in a range of striking colors. Toshiba “Smart Features--like a TouchPad with Multi-touch Control and our PC Health Monitor--mean you can do more and worry less. And with Wi-Fi, a Webcam plus plenty of expansion ports, you’ll have all the freedom you need to do your best. With this Toshiba laptop, you’ll be living large for sure.
I did a lot of comparison between this laptop and a comparable Acer that I found on Amazon and a few other retailers. Over all the specs for both were the same. 17.3 screen, 500 gig hard drive, 4 gigs of ram. But the Toshiba had a better video card with more memory and the AMD processor was a true triple core where the Acer had a Intel i3 duel core. And even though the i3 clocked higher I was interested in the AMD chip since it actually has three dedicated chips that clock at 1.8 ghz and the i3 does not. When I received the laptop the first thing I noticed was the keyboard had a "smooshy" feel to it. My last laptop had a satisfying "click" when I pressed a key but after a few days of typing I am pretty happy with it. The keys are not as sloppy as I thought and typing is easy and accurate. I love the screen! My last laptop was a 15.6" screen and I wanted to trade up to a larger screen (I work from home as a graphic and video editing freelancer) The colors are crisp and the is nice and bright. Overall this laptop is very fast for a 17.3" that is under $800 I do plan on upgrading the memory to 8 gigs (which runs about $200 at this time) but for the everyday user the 4 gigs it comes with are more than enough. The 500 gig hard drive was also a must for me since all the programs I use for my work take up almost a 100 gigs just by themselves. So I am all installed and still have almost 400 gigs for storage. I have had this machine on for almost four hours…

I have read others issues with this computer and have seen none of such with my machine. The only thing bothersome to me is that the price of computers drop so much, a month ago I paid $100 more. Cannot blame anyone for that though, its just how it is. The computer runs great and I do not have any sort of errors or freezing problems to note about. I am not doubting the other users having problems or their capabilities of being able to use the computers, however I am wondering if some (the ones complaining about software issues) might be related to malware or adware that was inadvertantly installed due to navigating or downloading certain things from the web. I do not use this laptop for heavy computing or tasks. I bought it for convenience of having a computer to tote around with me. Its perfect for that and I would not hesitate to buy it again. Especially since it dropped $100 in a month. grr!

This laptop is awesome! Updates and setup take a little while but, I was up and running in a couple hours. The drive is 7200rpm and JBL sound is icing on the cake. 17 inch screen is huge compared to 14-15 I've had in the past. 5 stars for this laptop. Thank you Amazon!!

Whether it's HD, multitasking, or multimedia, the Dell XPS 17 laptop has what it takes to take you to new levels of performance. Blending classic style and world-class features, Dell's XPS lineup was designed for creative explorers where everyday is a multimedia experience, whether it's uploading photos, watching streaming video, or listening to your favorite band play a concert on the other side of the world.
I must admit that when I first received my XPS 17, I really liked the body components of it for being aluminum instead of the usual cheap plastic used by other manufacturers. But, at the same time I've also quickly detested certain characteristics, design flaws, and features of it almost instantly as soon as I first started using it. Let me start with the usual; the HDD indicator is located on the back of the unit (what is the point in this???) and I seem to find myself CONSTANTLY lifting the laptop and tilting it forward towards me just so that I can monitor the activity of the drive whenever I'm either installing something or waiting for an external drive to respond via USB. Also, there are no status indicator on the numeric 'NumLk' key, but the Caps Lock key will 'lit' whenever it is activated. For the Numlk; in order for me to overcome this, I'd have to rely on a small black number '9' icon on the task tray towards the bottom-right located by the clock. Basically, the notification is on the screen and not on the key. I have a lighted keyboard so if the designer thinks that one little light (along with the HDD indicator mentioned earlier) would bother users then they should considered looking at the control panel lights towards the top side of the keyboard. Those buttons (Gear wheel, Dell Instant Launch Manager, and Dell Audio) stays lit in accordance with the keys and almost at all times. They should at least put the HDD and NumLk indicators there instead of in the odd places…
